Shri P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju
Hon’ble Minister of Civil Aviation
The Indian civil aviation sector has made giant strides and is sitting on the cusp of realizing its underlying growth potential. Large Indian fleet orders are now driving network expansion. The sector currently supports eight million jobs and is an important contributor to India's GDP. With steady growth in passenger traffic, including in the hitherto unreached Tier-II and Tier-III cities by making it affordable, the further scope for creating more employment opportunities in civil aviation is expected to reshape the landscape of the country.
Complementing the launch of 'Make-In-India' and 'Start Up India', is the focus on making available skilled manpower in the areas of Airline operations, Maintenance, Repair and Overhauling (MRO) sector, Airport operations and the aerospace ecosystem. The establishment of a dedicated National university for aviation is the fulcrum for catering to the needs of the booming industry and to ensure a steady outflow of highly skilled and quality human resources.
I am sure that RGNAU will enable professionals with requisite knowledge, skill and attitude to participate in the technological enablement and sector development, and meet the challenges and opportunities squarely so that the Indian aviation industry can soar to global commanding heights. I wish RGNAU all success for its all-round growth and look forward to seeing this university in the forefront of aviation education in India and abroad.
